Two teens are facing weapons charges after they were caught pointing fake firearms out of their car window in Cole Harbour.
Last night, RCMP conducted a high risk traffic stop on the Forest Hills Extension after hearing reports of two men driving around with guns pointed out of their car window.
When police found the car and arrested the men, an 18-year-old and a 19-year-old, they found out the guns were actually cap guns. The men had removed the red tips from the toys to make them look real.
Cpl. Angela Hawryluk said even though theyâre not real guns, itâs still an offence.
âTheyâre made to look real, and youâre using them in a manner believed to be real,â she said. âYou can be charged under the Criminal Code of Canada for a variety of weapon charges.â
Both teens will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on August 6.
Police say the incident is still being investigated.
