Report: Polaris Slingshot detail revealed in new patent renderings

Polaris Slingshot patent drawings

It's been about a year since we first heard about the Polaris Slingshot, and it looks like the side-by-side trike is a little closer to hitting the road. Thanks to a report from Asphalt and Rubber, we now have our best look yet at the Slingshot, as well as a press release from Polaris all but confirming the three-wheeler will go on sale in 2014.

Poised to take on the Campagna T-Rex, the Slingshot will reportedly one-up its rival, which uses a 160-horsepower BMW motorcycle engine, by using a 2.4-liter, four-cylinder engine sourced from General Motors that will produce power somewhere in the neighborhood of 200 hp. A belt will send power from the engine to the rear wheel, but the Slingshot will also utilize modern automotive features like electric power steering, ABS and stability/traction control.

Consider our interest piqued.
